Indigenous Rights to Traditional Medicine

In Article 24 of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP), Indigenous peoples have the right to their traditional medicines and to maintain their health practices, including the conservation of vital medicinal plants, animals, and minerals.

Luumi Sacred Wellness honors this international standard, with the understanding that the terms “African American” and “Black” are misnomers for Melanated, Indigenous Peoples whose true ancestral identities have been obscured. Our work supports the protection, continuation, and education of indigenous wellness knowledge.
